We’re delighted to welcome Romy to the design team at 360! Romy recently graduated from Reading University with a 1st class degree in Graphic Communication, and we've asked her a few questions to get to know her a bit better.
What has your journey in design been like so far?
In school, I loved art and creative subjects, but studying graphic communication at university is where my passion and skill for design really developed. I have also had the opportunity to work on some really exciting projects with interesting clients through the work experience I undertook while studying.
What interests you about design in general?
One of the things I love about design, and that really interests me is the concept of 'not making the user think'. Designing interfaces so seamless that the user knows how to use it and navigate through it immediately. This comes from a combination of excellent site structure and visual design, that work together so well the user hardly even notices it.
Do you have any favourite websites or brands you admire from a design perspective?
Spotify is definitely up there. I use it every day and the sleek design and personalisation features make it a pleasure to do so. Additionally, for users such as myself who use it both on desktop and mobile, the translation of design layout is effortless, meaning I can enjoy the experience equally on either device.
Asos is another favourite of mine, not just because I love shopping… Asos have mastered the layout of their information architecture and call-to-actions, making the interface easy to learn and easy to navigate. Not to mention the trendy images and graphics that keep the homepage fresh and engaging.
PC or Mac?
Mac!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I like to paint and create digital illustrations in my free time, as well as go to the gym and spend time with friends.
